I am a person.

Posted: May 10, 2012 in Uncategorized

Here is where I stand.

I am a Christian.
I don’t hate homosexuals.
As a Christian, I do believe homosexuality is wrong
and therefore I believe gay marriage is wrong.
I have the right and freedom to believe that.
Just like anyone has the right and freedom to believe that being gay is completely normal.

We don’t live in a Christian country.
We live in a FREE country.

And as a Christian, I LOVE EVERYONE, even my worst enemy.
But I have a right to believe what I believe.
And stand up for that belief.
And VOTE with my beliefs.
I agree, the church should have no place in the government.
The people should decide.
I am a person.

If I am hated for what I believe by the very people who claim to be “tolerant” then they are not really tolerant at all.
I am not intolerant for believing in something and neither are you.
Intolerance is acting against people because of what they believe.
So if you hate me for my beliefs, YOU ARE INTOLERANT.
In the words of Christ: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
So stop hating people for how they vote or what they believe.
You have the right to believe whatever you want.
Please grant me the same grace and dignity.

    Hey Bryan,

Although I may have different beliefs in the matter at hand, you’ve written this beautifully. This is the beauty of a democracy. And why gay marriage is legal and gay relations are accepted(mostly) here. Because we, the people, want that. Well said.

P.S. You probably don’t remember me but we went to Durham College together. I used to give you a lift from time to time. I dropped out after first year though.. Tisk tisk.
